I love writing for projects because they have different needs along the way. I can write inspirational calls to action, detailed analysis, messages to media and public officials, or even jokes for that year-end video you’re making with your team.
Between print and digital, advertising and social, you have numerous opportunities to communicate. I'll develop and sharpen your message across platforms, and provide a consistent voice that's memorable and approachable.
I believe a good writer:
Understands the content and the audience
Values simple, clear communication
Breathes life into the writing
Many freelance writers don’t dedicate the time to understanding the topic they’re writing about or its intended audience, and it shows. They turn in their work and it’s correct (hopefully), but you wish they could tap into what you know, the way you know it. I ask a lot of questions when I’m learning something new, and try to push you on your knowledge to shake loose assumptions you may have built-in. Once I have a firm understanding of your content, I’m in a much stronger position to craft my writing toward your goals.
Technical skills are the least you can ask for in a writer, but I believe the best writing feels human - it has style, it has a voice. When writers invest their work with human perspective, it lives and breathes, and people recognize life within it. This goes for every piece of writing, from marketing and packaging to research and user manuals. The voice may be chatty or dry, loud or calm, it may teach or sell, but the reader hears a person in it and connects.
